Meet the Team

Doug WatersDoug Waters

Specialist Periodontist
Director of North Shore Periodontics

Dr Douglas Waters graduated from Otago University with a BDS; Dip. Clin. Dent (with Distinction); MDs (with Distinction) and with a Dip. Mgt. from Auckland University. Doug practices as a specialist in dental implants and periodontics in Takapuna, Auckland.

Previously Doug worked in General Practice in New Zealand and England where he completed his initial training in implant placement in 1988.

Doug is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the New Zealand Dental Association and is past president of the New Zealand Society of Periodontics.

Dr Waters is Director of North Shore Periodontics and has been in specialist practice in Takapuna from 2000.

Dr Waters practices a full scope of periodontics ranging from dental implants, treatment and prevention of periodontal diseases, diseases of the oral soft tissues, cosmetic periodontal surgery, grafting of soft and hard tissues and crown lengthening.

The implant systems currently used at North Shore Periodontics are: Nobel Biocare; 3i; Straumann (ITI) and AstraTech.

Specialist Periodontist

Born in Singapore Dawn came to New Zealand at the age of 16 to further her education. She graduated BDS (Otago) in 1999.

After working both in the public and private sector, Dawn returned to Dunedin and completed her specialist training graduating MDS in Periodontology in 2005. Since then she has worked in specialist periodontal practices both in Auckland and Wellington.

In addition to surgical and non-surgical management of periodontal diseases, Dawn also has a particular interest in periodontal plastic surgery and implantology.

Dawn is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Periodontology and the past Treasurer of the New Zealand Society of Periodontology.

Dawn is married and a busy mum to three young children. If she has any spare time she enjoys spending time in the kitchen trying out new recipes.



Angela
Ms Angela Werton

Hygienist

Angela graduated from Otago University as a registered dental hygienist in 1996. Angela has extensive experience in treating periodontal disease and has been working for several years. This professional development combined with her meticulous nature and warm caring approach sets her apart in the industry.

She has an encouraging rather than lecturing approach in helping her clients learn techniques to maintain their teeth for life.

Client comfort is a main objective in her treatment and she is able to administer local anaesthetic if required. Angela is a member of the New Zealand Dental Hygienist’s Association and attends regular courses on continuing education in dental hygiene practices. She has been part of the team at North Shore Periodontics for 17 years.

 

LilyLily Lee

Hygienist 

Lily graduated from the University of Otago in 2017 with a dual scope qualification as a dental hygienist and dental therapist. She has extensive experience practicing at general dental, specialist periodontal, and specialist maxillofacial / oral surgery clinics. 

Lily is passionate about oral health and believes in delivering the highest quality of care to every patient. Her patients often compliment her thorough gentle clinical skills and warm caring manner. Everyone she sees is offered tailored oral health education based on individual needs to achieve optimal oral health. 

Lily is a Taiwanese New Zealander and is fluent in both English and Mandarin. She is a member of the New Zealand Oral Health Association and regularly attends dental conferences and courses. She loves complex jigsaw puzzles, is a travel enthusiast and is always down for a good pilates class.
